Things have gone from bad to worse for the Montreal Canadiens lately.
After losing to the Blue Jackets in Columbus on Monday night, the Habs were once again trailing the Jackets on Tuesday when they lost Max Pacioretty.
During the second period at the Bell Centre, the Montreal captain took a shot from defenceman P.K. Subban up high and immediately left the game.
The Canadiens announced soon after that Pacioretty would not return to the game.
The 27-year-old has a team-high 19 goals and 36 points in 49 games. This season.
Pacioretty's injury is just the latest for Montreal. Earlier in the day the club announced Daniel Carr would miss three months with a right knee injury.
The Habs are of course without the reigning MVP and Vezina Trophy winner Carey Price, who has been out of the lineup since Nov. 25.
